Artist Spotlight: Heather Anne Eskridge

Meet the Artist

Heather Anne Eskridge is a nature-inspired artist based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Her love of painting began early. She laughs remembering her first “canvas,” her family dog James, who patiently sat still while she painted him with watercolors as a kid.

A few lessons in a quiet Tennessee farmhouse set her on a lifelong creative path. Largely self-taught, Heather found early inspiration in the works of O’Keeffe, Van Gogh, and Monet. Today, her work reflects that same spirit of wonder.

Heather describes her art as being for “outdoorsy homebodies.” For the people who love the beauty of nature just as much as the feeling of being home. When she’s not painting, she’s spending time with her two sons or serving her community as a counselor, finding beauty in the in-between moments of everyday life.

Artistic Style & Inspiration

Heather works in both acrylic and watercolor, layering bold brushstrokes with translucent washes of color. Her florals, landscapes, and seascapes feel alive. They are vibrant yet grounded.

Her inspiration comes from the outdoors, from travel, and from those small moments when light hits a petal or wave just right. “I want people to feel connected to nature when they look at my work,” she says. “Like they can breathe a little deeper.”

How Nature Shapes Her Work

For Heather, nature isn’t just a subject, it’s a collaborator.

“As an outdoor enthusiast, the landscape is part of who I am,” she shares. “Rolling hills, wildflowers, coastal scenes… they all make their way into my art somehow.” Recently, Heather has been exploring new horizons. From the green, sunny summers of Tennessee to the deep blues of Portugal’s coastline, turning her travels into paintings that feel like visual journal entries.

Each brushstroke tells a story of where she’s been and what she’s felt. Her art feels like an invitation to slow down and notice the world again. Seeing the way light moves, how colors change, and how the outdoors can heal us.
