Designer Spotlight: Kim Lummus

Designer Spotlight: Kim Lummus

Interior Designer | Founder of Kim Lummus Interiors

Meet Kim Lummus

Kim Lummus is the founder and principal designer behind Kim Lummus Interiors. A lifelong lover of design, Kim’s passion for creating beautiful, meaningful spaces started in childhood and has followed her through her professional journey. After earning degrees from Auburn University and Tufts University, she refined her skills at a respected interior design firm before launching her own business in August of 2024.

When she’s not designing, you’ll find Kim spending time with her husband, two children, and their beloved dog. She’s also a tennis enthusiast, Pilates fan, and devoted homebody who loves decorating her own space.

“As a child, I would rearrange my furniture and select my wall paint color to coordinate with my bedding. I’ve always known this is what I was meant to do.”

Kim's Design Style

Describing her aesthetic as “clean, airy, timeless, and textured,” Kim creates interiors that feel calm and collected, while still being full of personality. Her spaces are layered and intentional, often blending soft colors and rich textures in unexpected but approachable ways.

As a fourth-generation Floridian, Kim’s work is heavily influenced by the beach and nature. She gravitates toward coastal-inspired palettes that feel elevated, yet relaxed.

“I’m always personally drawn to watercolors, soft blues, greens, blushes, and texture, lots of texture!”

The Role of Art in Her Spaces

Art plays a central role in Kim’s design process. She sees original artwork as more than décor, it’s a personal and meaningful layer that adds soul and depth to a space.

Kim often works closely with her clients to source artwork that reflects their story and enhances the overall feel of the room.

“Original artwork is ALWAYS a good idea. It breathes life into a space and helps avoid the dreaded ‘cookie-cutter’ look.”

A Favorite Project

One of Kim’s favorite recent projects was participating in a Designer Spotlight at Solano Fine Art. Each designer was tasked with styling a blank vignette, and Kim used it as an opportunity to create something personal.

She hand-selected original art from the gallery to complement her vision, playing with texture, color, and a blend of classic and modern touches. The result was a space that felt both collected and curated, showcasing her belief that great design starts with thoughtful layers.

“That project reinforced what I’ve always believed: the most beautiful spaces showcase a marriage of original art and classic design.”
