Life-Long Sailor & Fine Art Oil Painter

Diane Larson has spent much of her life sailing and painting, from the Pacific to the Caribbean. Now based in Cocoa Village, Florida, she works full-time in her studio overlooking the Indian River Lagoon.

Her journey as an artist began in 1984, when she discovered the Plein Air Painters of America while sailing to Catalina. Encouraged by her mentor, Dottie Knight, Diane embraced painting despite the challenges of dyslexia, developing an intuitive, gestural style. She layers transparent glazes and opaque strokes to create depth and vibration in her work, a technique inspired by her early training in faux finishing.

Relocating to Florida in 2012 reignited her coastal inspiration, and today her paintings reflect the breezy, exploratory lifestyle she loves. Diane is honored to have a piece in the permanent collection of the United States Coast Guard in Washington, D.C.
