Heather O'Donovan is a California native whose lifelong connection to the ocean and rocky coastlines continues to inspire her work. With a 25-year career in fashion and interior design, she built a successful design firm and ran shops in Los Angeles and Charleston, crafting effortlessly livable spaces for clients across the country. That same relaxed, welcoming energy now infuses her paintings.

Her journey into painting began in 2018, sparked by an unforgettable trip to France. What 
started as explorations in watercolor and bold florals gradually evolved into the fluid abstract style she embraces today, work that feels like an authentic extension of her creative identity. One of her earliest collectors was a longtime design client, a testament to the continuity between her design sensibilities and her visual art.

Inspired by the stunning landscapes from Carmel to Barcelona, my work seeks to capture the tranquility of these environments. I use acrylic paints and inks to create organic, flowing forms that embody the essence of the places that inspire me. My goal is to create pieces that provide an immersive escape into calmness and serenity. If my art can facilitate a moment of peace and inspire a sense of tranquility, then I have truly accomplished my objective.

Now based in Washington, D.C., Heather lives with her husband while their two daughters 
attend college. Her travels with her family are a constant wellspring of inspiration, and she 
often paints from photographs taken along the way. Through color, movement, and texture, she seeks to express the quiet beauty and serenity of the natural world, capturing the feeling of a place more than its precise form.
